Calcium Carbonate is the primery component in the production of chalk. It is also one of the most commonly found salts in drinking water.
PRODUCT INFO
CaCO3 can help reduce excess tartaric acid in wine must. Add from 1g to 4g of CaCO3 per gallon of must depending on the perceived tartness of juice. Be mindful that adding too much CaCO3 can affect the color and character of wine negatively.
CaCO3 increases water pH. It helps lowering bitterness in hoppy or dark beers. However, too much increase in pH could result in Yeast malfunction and beer contamination.
In moderations though, CaCO3 provides Calcium to yeasts, which is the most important mineral for yeast health.
